When to use a power cord adapter
Home or campground electrical connections don’t always match your RV’s electrical system, and that’s when a power cord adapter comes in handy. Prepping the RV at home before you leave, for instance, you can plug into a standard household outlet through an adapter to cool the refrigerator and charge the batteries.
How to use one
Power cord adapters are easy to use — they simply plug in between your RV’s power cord and the available electrical outlet.
Their limitations
An adapter lets you connect across different systems, but reducing the amperage limits what you can run. Air conditioners and microwaves in particular need real power. Only use them if you have enough voltage, and be careful not to overload.
