How to keep your RV cool this summer
With heatwaves rolling through the country, keep your RV cool while camping with these tips.
Seek out the shade
An obvious one, and it will go a long way to keeping your RV cool. Pick the shadiest site the campground has.
Cook outside
Grill outdoors or use a portable camp stove rather than heating the inside up with the oven.
Install roof vent covers
Open the roof vents when there is a breeze. Installing a roof vent cover will help to direct breezes in and reduce heat build-up, while keeping rain out on those drizzly, muggy days.
Pack a portable fan
Put it at a shaded window during the day to draw the cooler outside air in.
Keep your shades closed
Closed window coverings stop the sun heating the interior. Black-out curtains and shades work best for this.
Catch the evening breeze
Open the windows at night, then close them in the morning and drop the shades to keep the cool air in.
Keep that door shut
Every trip in and out costs you. Keep a cooler outside with the drinks in it.
Get that AC going
If you have the hookup, use it.
