The Spring Cleaning Products You Need For Your RV
The first warm days of spring can stir powerful emotions inside us — feelings of hope, love, and rejuvenation. For RVers it means it is time to get ready. Whether your RV spent the winter in storage or out in the weather, a thorough spring clean is what buys you a worry-free season.
Exterior
- RV wash & wax — use a specialized RV wash soap to clean the exterior, which can help prevent damage to the finish
- Tough stain removers — for black streaks, dried insects and rust
- Complete cleaning kits
- Extendable brushes — for the parts you can’t reach
- Microfibre towels and mitts — gentle on delicate surfaces
- Wheel cleaners — brake dust and grime
- Rubber roof cleaners — formulated specifically for that material
Interior
- Multi-surface cleaners
- Deodorizing and disinfecting solutions for the deep clean
- A vacuum with the right attachments
- Streak-free glass cleaner
- Disinfectant wipes for high-touch surfaces
- Fabric cleaner for upholstery and curtains
Maintenance and inspection
- Check and replace damaged seals around windows, doors and roof vents
- Apply roof sealant — there are different sealants for different kinds of roofing material
- Check tire pressure and tread wear, and apply a protectant
- Test the battery charge and fluid levels, and clean the terminals
Propane system
Manufacturers recommend an annual LP system check by a professional: appliance servicing, leak detection and pressure verification. Keep an eye on the tank gauges through the season.
Water system
- Tank sanitizer for the freshwater system
- Replace or clean the water filter
- Inspect hoses and fittings for damage
Awnings and general supplies
Use a cleaner specifically formulated for RV awnings to remove dirt and stains, then a protectant against UV and mildew. Add gloves, buckets, sponges, brushes and trash bags to the list.
Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cleaning and maintenance products, and test on an inconspicuous area first.
