Laundry at the campground
Laundry at the campground
If your RV didn’t come equipped with a washing machine, there are still plenty of ways to keep your clothes clean during extended RV trips.
Handwashing
The simplest option: the RV sink or a plastic tub, warm water and a teaspoon or two of detergent. Let things soak, or agitate them gently by hand or with a washboard, then rinse and air dry. Bring a foldable drying rack, or a rope and clothes pegs.
On-site campground facilities
Most campgrounds have laundry facilities. Bring plenty of coins, and give the machines a look before you load them.
Local laundromats
Towns usually have one, and many offer a full-service drop-off.
Portable washers
Electric and hand-crank portable washing machines are a real option for longer trips.
Dos and don’ts
- Use eco-friendly and biodegradable detergent when washing off-the-grid
- Don’t do laundry in a public bathroom sink
- Dispose of the grey water properly
