Get your RV Ready for Fall Adventures
Before heading out for a fall adventure, don’t forget to stock your RV with warm bedding and comfort foods, and prepare it for cold weather.
Prepare your water system for cold weather
The thing to worry about is water freezing in the lines or the holding tanks. When the temperature is near or below freezing, winterize: pour half a jug of RV antifreeze down the sink drain to the grey tank, and the other half down the toilet to the black tank. If you’re on hookups, invest in a heated water hose.
Bring back-up heat
An electric space heater as a furnace backup, and an electric blanket for the night.
Add vent cushions
The inexpensive foam insulates your vents and prevents heat loss, making your ceiling more energy efficient.
Dress your bed in warm layers
Swap the summer bedding for warm sheets, a heavier quilt and a throw or two.
Bring in more light
Awning lights outside and flameless LED candles inside, for the evenings that start earlier every week.
Re-stock the pantry
Iced tea out, hot chocolate in — and top up whatever else has run low.
