Exterior Cleaning and Protection for Your RV

RVs come with a variety of exterior surfaces that need to be cleaned and maintained, from rubber roof membranes to fabric awnings — and each one wants a different product. Washing alone isn’t enough: UV is the main threat to an exterior, so protection matters as much as cleaning.

Step one: the roof

Start at the top and work down. Use a cleaner made for rubber roof membranes — the wrong product will damage them. Follow it with a rubber roof treatment, which extends the membrane’s life, makes the next clean easier, and reduces the black streaks that oxidation causes.

Step two: the sidewalls

Wash, then wax to protect and restore. If fibreglass has gone dull and chalky, the MAGIC-BOSS™ Deoxidiser & Wax brings the shine back and protects it from going the same way again.

Step three: the slideouts

After washing, apply a rubber seal conditioner to the slideout seals: water resistance, UV protection, and no degradation. This is the job everyone skips, and it is an expensive one to skip.

Step four: the tires

A dedicated tire product cleans, shines and protects them from UV.

A few more things

Rust. Paint any rusted area straight away, especially on exposed steel: the hitch, the steps, the propane tanks.

Pressure washing. Keep the pressure low and the distance safe.

Decals and paint. Vinyl decals fade over time — ask us what to use, and test any product somewhere inconspicuous first. If your RV came with dealer-applied exterior paint protection you don’t need to wax it; the UV protection is already there.
