TIPS FOR PLANNING A GREAT RV TRIP ROUTE

Want to take an RV road trip adventure, but don’t know where to start?

1. Pick your destination

Choose an end point, a mid-point if you’re taking a circular route, or just choose a region you’d like to explore. Provincial tourism websites are a good place to look for route ideas.

2. Look for the scenic route

Rather than repeating the same highway, look at secondary highways and roads that make even small detours off the main route. Make sure they are RV-friendly roads, and avoid rough service roads.

3. Make a list of things to see and do

From historical landmarks to scenic viewpoints, towns to parks — write down everything along the route that interests you.

4. Narrow down your list

Narrow them down to the activities and sights you’re most excited about, and ones that fit within the limits of your time.

5. Create a timeline

Divide up your days: more time for places that will take longer to explore properly, and shorter travel times on days packed with things to see and do.

6. Leave space for the unexpected

You never know what lies on the road ahead! Don’t schedule your trip so rigorously that no room is left for spontaneity.

7. Book ahead

Reserve campsites in advance, and check out the online reviews to make sure it’s a good fit.
